2017 SCHOLARSHIP & BURSARY AWARDS


We are currently accepting applications for the 2017 Scholarship and Bursaries Awards Program.These awards have been established for students enrolled in a post-secondary institution or approved apprenticeship training program and are pursuing a career in construction or a construction related field.

Annual Awards Are:

The "Ron Slager Memorial" Bursary ($1000)

Ron Slager started as a boilermaker at the age of 17 and through hard work, dedication and creative ideas went on to become a partner in our member company Cascade Mechanical.  It is with utmost respect, admiration, appreciation, and love for Ron that Cascade initiated this $1,000 memorial bursary to be offered annually to an individual registered as an Apprentice in any mechanical related Trade.  We are pleased to have Jaron Sucholotosky present the 2014 award on behalf of the family and Cascade Mechanical.

 

The Arne Skuggedal Memorial Scholarship ($500)

Arne established Nordic Woodwork in 1976 and immediately joined the Prince George Construction Association where he was an active member for over two decades. Arne joined the Board of Directors in 1980, sat on almost every Committee over time and took on the Chairmanship in 1985.  He served on the Board of Northern BC Construction Association from 1984 to 1989 and was Chairman during 1986. He also served on the BC Construction Association Board of Directors from 1985 to 1990.

 

The Trond Skuggedal Memorial Scholarship ($500)

Trond served his apprenticeship with Zettl Masonry during the years of 1977 and 1981.  He then went to work for Canadian Stebbins for a number of years traveling around the province where the work brought him.  Trond started his own company, North City Masonry Ltd. in 1992.  Trond joined the Construction Association in 1994 and actively participated in the functions and events.  Trond was cement mason extraordinaire by trade but was a jack-of-all-trades on the construction site as he did excellent work.  He started in residential and commercial construction; and then moved into the industrial sector.
