Construction Safety Officer Training

CEC Health & Safety’s challenging and fast-paced Construction Safety Officer* instruction will enhance the participant’s knowledge and skill set in the field of construction safety. CEC’s Construction Safety Officer instruction is delivered through two separate courses: Trade Safety Coordinator (CSO-MGMT-100-1) and the Construction Safety Officer (CSO-MGMT-100-2). The two courses run back to back. Both courses must be successfully completed before the course completion certificate will be issued for Construction Safety Officer. CEC CSO Course comprises both requirements.

Successful completion of the CEC Construction Safety Officer Instruction can lead to employment in various industries.Learning objectives from both courses can be applied throughout mining, healthcare, manufacturing, oil & gas, office, agriculture, aquaculture, highways, forestry, film & television, hospitality & tourism, residential & commercial construction sectors and so much more.

Students who successfully complete the Construction Safety Officer instruction are encouraged to join the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of BC (ASTTBC) and apply for designation/certification as a Construction Safety Officer (CSO(P)). 

Course participants must:

  • Must be minimum 19 years old at time of course start date
  • Be in good physical and mental health
  • Have completed Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Have basic computer skills
  • It is beneficial, but not mandatory, for participants to have one (1) year construction experience

Practical and hands-on, this course is intended for participants with previous knowledge and field experience with an interest in safety management. This is a fast-paced course with approximately 10-15 hours of home study time.

This course shall provide participants with the knowledge and ability to perform job specific tasks. As a pre-requisite, participants must have successfully completed the CEC Trade Safety Coordinator (TSC) Course (CSO-MGMT-100-1). Participants will gain knowledge of specific industry hazards in detail. This is a fast-paced course with approximately 10-15 hours of home study time.

ILONA KLIMCZAK – President, Health & Safety Director, OSHS, CSO(P)

With over 15 years experience as an Occupational Health and Safety Practitioner, Ilona Klimczak* provides value-driven safety solutions and leadership to organizations working in challenging, fast-paced environments. Her extensive educational background and qualifications ensure that the delivery and implementation of health and safety related programs and information is done in a professional manner.

As the dynamic President/CEO/Lead Trainer and Investigator for CEC Health & Safety, it is Ilona’s primary objective to provide progressive, exemplary customer service while working towards promoting a nation-wide safety culture.

With proven professional and project management experience, Ilona possesses a wealth of business leadership skills and has served as a technical health and safety advisor to several District Municipalities and Industries, including: Mining, Oil & Gas, Hydro-Electric, Construction and Demolition.

Previous career and life experience gained through living/working in Northern BC, West Coast Territories and the Yukon have contributed to the high level of respect she has earned with both regulatory bodies and her clients.
